On Saturday, April 25, 2015 a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, just northwest of the capital of Kathmandu. It was the worst quake to strike the region in more than 80 years.
The area was hit with a second 7.3 magnitude quake just 17 days later, on May 12, causing further damage and suffering for those who had survived the initial disaster. Nepal, well known for its rich cultural heritage and extreme tourism, is one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia. The damage done by the quake has a put a strain on its citizens that will last for many years.
The earthquakes caused extensive damage to buildings and thousands of deaths and injuries and was even felt in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
Many (historic) buildings collapsed, temples have been ruined, roads destroyed. Nearly 8000 deaths in Nepal and tens of deaths in India & Tibet. The quake was followed by more than 430 aftershocks and another huge earthquake (6.8) on May 12.
We teamed up with HSTSRH Bansbari Group and started the relief pogramme right away. At first we went to Teaching Hospital and provided food, water and medicine supplies for the wounded. Then We send some food, medicines and clothes to Sindhupalchowk with the help of a group.
1. Then we planned to reach the people by our self, Our first phase was for Sakhu not so far from KTM.
2. Then we planned for Gorkha most earthquake hit place as phrase two. We selected Siran Dada, Lame and Taple as our point. After around 2 days journey we reached there for relief.
- After Gorkha we again set our destination towards Deupur Kavre.
- After Deupur we set our trip towards Gairimudi, Dolakha.
- Our Journey didn't stop there we again rushed towards Likhu, Nuwakot.
- Then again we head towards Gairimudi, Dolakha with tents and school Stuffs.
